William Blair analyst Jason Ader reiterated an Outperform rating on Dropbox (NASDAQ: DBX) after hosting investor meetings with Dropbox management. The meetings centered on the company’s evolution from a consumer-focused, back-end file sync and share (FSS) tool to a business-focused, collaboration workspace (a.k.a. The New Dropbox desktop app).
The analyst stated "This evolution is years in the making, though it seems clear that instead of getting credit for the enhanced functionality of its new-and-improved offering, the stock is being penalized for fear of disrupting traditional user engagement and/or the sense that the company is
moving in this direction only due to FSS commoditization".
