Piper Jaffray analyst Danielle Brill highlights that Sarepta Therapeutics (NASDAQ: SRPT) will present 9-month functional data with their limb-girdle (LGMD2E) gene therapy next week (10/2) at the World Muscle Symposium (WMS).
"In our view, perceived risks for the ongoing microdystrophin (MD) DMD gene therapy trial (Study-102) and reduced downside protection following the golodirsen CRL have been driving the recent pullback in shares," Brill commented. "We’re still bullish (especially at these levels) and believe the stock may see some relief w/ updated LGMD2E data."
The analyst said positive data could: 1) provide more down-support through further validation of the LGMD oppy (~$2B market across subtypes) and; 2) read-through to the ongoing DMD Study-102.
"Given several similarities between the LGMD2E and DMD gene tx programs, we would view Study-102 as slightly de-risked if LGMD efficacy data are consistent with what has been observed so far in DMD," it was added.
