Stifel analyst, Kevin Cassidy, reiterated his Buy rating on shares of AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) after the company hosted its Next Horizon event, and announced the immediate availability of its EPYC processors on Amazon Web
Services. AMD also introduced its 7nm Vega-based GPU, the AMD Radeon Instinct MI60 and MI50, the first GPU to move to 7nm.
The analyst stated "Through transitioning from 14/12nm process nodes directly to 7nm, AMD's next generation products will deliver 2x performance improvements over the previous generation. We believe AMD can gain market share in both data center CPU and GPU markets as its customers have a clear path to system performance improvements. Interesting to us is that AMD is using a expanding its 'chiplet' or multi-chip module design approach. We see this approach as more nimble and lower risk vs. Intel's monolithic die approach".
No change to the price target of $34.
