National General (NASDAQ: NGHC) reported Q2 EPS of $0.54, $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of $0.53. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.09 billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.09 billion.
- Second quarter 2018 net income of $36.7 million or $0.34 per diluted share, compared to net income of $5.5 million or $0.05 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2017.
- Second quarter 2018 operating earnings(1) was $59.5 million or $0.54 per diluted share, compared to $23.7 million or $0.22 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2017.
- Second quarter 2018 net income was impacted by an $18.7 million net realized loss on investments related to a repositioning of the portfolio.
