Extended Stay America (STAY) Tops Q1 EPS by 2c, Beats on Revenues; Offers FY18 EPS Mid-Point View Below Consensus

Extended Stay America (NYSE: STAY) reported Q1 EPS of $0.19, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $0.17. Revenue for the quarter came in at $297.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $292.18 million.

First Quarter 2018 Highlights

  • Total revenues grew 2.3% to $297.8 million
  • Comparable system-wide Revenue Per Available Room (“RevPAR”) grew 3.7% to $47.50
  • Adjusted EBITDA increased 2.0% to $132.2 million
  • Adjusted Funds From Operations (“Adjusted FFO”)1 of $0.42 per diluted Paired Share, an increase of 18.2%
  • Adjusted Paired Share Income1 of $0.19 per diluted Paired Share, an increase of 33.5%

GUIDANCE:

Extended Stay America sees FY2018 EPS of $1.04-$1.14, versus the consensus of $1.12. Extended Stay America sees FY2018 revenue of $1.257-1.282 billion, versus the consensus of $1.28 billion.
