Zendesk (ZEN) Tops Q2 EPS by 1c, Offers Guidance, Names COO

Zendesk (NYSE: ZEN) reported Q2 EPS of ($0.05), $0.01 better than the analyst estimate of ($0.06). Revenue for the quarter came in at $101.3 million versus the consensus estimate of $99.49 million.

GUIDANCE:

Zendesk sees Q3 2017 revenue of $108-110 million, versus the consensus of $108.8 million.

  • Non-GAAP operating loss of $6.0 - 7.0 million, which excludes share-based compensation and related expenses of approximately $23.4 million, amortization of purchased intangibles of approximately $1.0 million and acquisition-related expenses of approximately $0.6 million

Zendesk sees FY2017 revenue of $420-425 million, versus the consensus of $417 million.

  • Non-GAAP operating loss of $16.0 - 20.0 million, which excludes share-based compensation and related expenses of approximately $93.3 million, amortization of purchased intangibles of approximately $3.7 million and acquisition-related expenses of approximately $2.0 million

Appointment of Tom Keiser as Chief Operating Officer
Zendesk today announced the appointment of Tom Keiser as chief operating officer. Keiser has served as its chief information officer and senior vice president of technology operations since May 2016. In his expanded role, he will lead the prioritization, communication and alignment of our strategic goals across the company, and ensure consistent execution and measurement of those goals in the company’s operations.
“Zendesk has grown rapidly as an organization, and Tom will bring greater discipline and structure to our operations as COO,” said Mikkel Svane, Zendesk CEO, chairman and founder.
