CarMax (KMX) Tops Q3 EPS by 2c

CarMax (NYSE: KMX) reported Q3 EPS of $0.72, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $0.70. Revenue for the quarter came in at $3.7 billion versus the consensus estimate of $3.75 billion.

• Net sales and operating revenues increased 4.4% to $3.70 billion.
• Used unit sales in comparable stores increased 5.4%.
• Total used unit sales rose 9.1%.
• Total wholesale unit sales declined 2.2%.
• CarMax Auto Finance (CAF) income declined 3.2% to $89.4 million.
• Net earnings increased 6.6%, to $136.6 million, while net earnings per diluted share rose 14.3% to $0.72.
