May 12, 2016 4:15 PM EDT

NovaBay Pharma (NYSE: NBY) reported Q1 EPS of ($1.24), $0.56 worse than the analyst estimate of ($0.68). Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.7 million versus the consensus estimate of $1.84 million.

The higher net loss in the first quarter of 2016 was a result of final expenses to close out prior R&D and clinical programs, the residual expenses of the Company’s restructuring implemented in the fourth quarter of 2015, $1.2 million increase in sales and marketing expense and the impact of a non-cash loss in the fair value of warrant liability. R&D expenses were $933,000 and general and administrative expenses were $1.7 million for the first quarter of 2016, compared with $1.6 million and $1.6 million, respectively, for the prior-year period.
