Vitamin Shoppe (VSI) Tops Q1 EPS by 2c; Comps Fell 1.9%

Vitamin Shoppe (NYSE: VSI) reported Q1 EPS of $0.67, $0.02 better than the analyst estimate of $0.65. Revenue for the quarter came in at $336.8 million versus the consensus estimate of $339.76 million.

Total comparable sales were down 1.9% in the quarter reflecting a 2.6% retail store comparable sales decline, partially offset by a 3.9% increase in ecommerce sales. Manufacturing third party sales decreased 7.8% compared to the same period of the prior year. The Company opened nine stores in the quarter and closed one.

GUIDANCE:

Vitamin Shoppe sees FY2016 EPS of $2.25-$2.45, versus the consensus of $2.29.
