TJX Companies (TJX) Reports 4% Increase in August Same-Store Sales, CEO Reaffirms Q3 Earnings Outlook

The TJX Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TJX) reported August 2006 sales for the four-week period ended August 26, 2006, were $1.3 billion, up 9% over the $1.2 billion achieved during the four-week period ended August 27, 2005.
Consolidated comparable store sales for the four-week period ended August 26, 2006, increased 4% over last year.
Ben Cammarata, Chairman and Acting Chief Executive Officer of The TJX Companies, Inc., stated, "Our August consolidated comparable store sales increase of 4% exceeded our expectations, as we saw business trends pick up toward the end of the month. We continue to expect third quarter earnings per share in the range of $0.39 - $0.41." Current consensus is $0.41.
