Shaw Communications (SJR) Misses Q1 EPS by 5c

Shaw Communications (NYSE: SJR) reported Q1 EPS of $0.43, $0.05 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.48. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.4 billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.42 billion.

Free cash flow for the quarter was $173 million relative to $193 million for the comparable period. The reduction for the quarter was primarily due to timing of planned capital expenditures for the first quarter being higher than for the comparable period, partially offset by higher operating income before restructuring costs and amortization.
