Fred's (FRED) Tops Q2 EPS by 5c; Guides FY15 EPS Below Expectations

Fred's (NASDAQ: FRED) reported Q2 EPS of ($0.05), $0.05 better than the analyst estimate of ($0.10). Revenue for the quarter came in at $546.1 million versus the consensus estimate of $552.42 million.

Comparable store sales for the quarter increased 0.9% compared with a decline of 0.1% in the second quarter last year.

Fred's sees Q3 2015 EPS of $0.08-$0.12, versus the consensus of $0.15.

Earnings per diluted share for the year are forecasted to be in the range of $0.10 to $0.18 compared with a net loss of ($0.80) per share last year. The Street is at $0.26.
