McDonald's (MCD) Global Comps up 5.9% in June, Sees Q2 EPS of $0.67 Including Gain

McDonald's Corporation (NYSE: MCD) announced today that Systemwide sales for McDonald's restaurants increased 8.1% in June, or 6.9% in constant currencies. Global comparable sales grew 5.9% in June and 5.5% for the quarter. Comparable sales grew 5.2% in the US, 4.5% in Europe and 8.8% in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

Second quarter 2006 earnings are expected to be about $0.67 per share. This preliminary earnings per share amount includes $0.10 of income related to the gain on the sale of a portion of our Chipotle Mexican Grill shares in the secondary offering completed in May; $0.01 of impairment expense primarily related to a loss on the anticipated sale of a market in APMEA to a developmental licensee; and $0.01 of incremental tax expense primarily related to the one-time impact from a tax law change in Canada. The consensus is $0.56.
