It provides credit ratings on public and private corporations and is designated as a Nationally Recognized Statistical Rating Organization (NRSRO) by the SEC. The firm’s long-term credit ratings range from “AAA” to “D” and its short-term credit ratings range from “A-1” to “D”. Standard & Poor’s also publishes indexes including the S&P 500.
