Apax Partners is currently in talks with Polycom Inc. (NASDAQ: PLCM) for a deal that could take the largest manufacturer of video conferencing equipment private, and according to the Financial Times could value Polycom at more than $3 billion.

The deal has been in the works between the two companies since talks began in November that have resulted in a possible $37 per share offer before the end of the month.

The talks have caused a surge in the value of Polycom shares, which could prove a roadblock to a potential deal coming to pass. The rumored value of the deal would represent a 22 percent premium to the current trading value of Polycom shares, which closed at a $30.31 on Tuesday in New York.
