On November 1, 2010. CNA Surety Corporation (NYSE: SUR) received an offer from CNA Financial Corporation (NYSE: CNA) to acquire the shares not currently owned for $22 per share.
The offer represents a 14% premium over Surety's last closing price.
CNA Surety's board of directors has formed a special committee consisting of the company's three independent directors.
UPDATE: On April 21, 2011, CNA Financial increased its offering to $26.55 per share for CNA Financial.
