75 Operators Signed with Syniverse for Roaming Fraud Protection

TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Syniverse Technologies (NYSE: SVR) has underlined its continuing global leadership momentum in roaming fraud protection with the announcement today that it now has 75 operator contracts for its award-winning Syniverse DataNet anti-fraud solution. Syniverse is a leading provider of technology and business solutions for the global telecommunications industry.

Syniverse DataNet, which was named best roaming product in 2008 by the GSM Association (GSMA), has been chosen by operators as geographically diverse as VimpelCom Russia, Saudi Telecom and NTT DoCoMo from Japan. Moreover, dozens of additional operators, who are looking to dramatically reduce the risk of roaming fraud to their networks, are in various stages of discussion with Syniverse.

This week Syniverse is meeting with more than 65 operators from 32 countries at a private event in Florida to discuss a number of industry issues, including roaming fraud protection.

"Syniverse is the company that operators turn to as they drive down the risk of roaming fraud, protect their network investments and safeguard the environment for the increasing numbers of subscribers who are roaming," said Tony Holcombe, president and CEO, Syniverse. "We continue to see growth in the number of contracts we have signed and have now reached a 75-contract milestone, as operators look to protect their networks against the threat of fraud and continue to place their business and trust with Syniverse."

Syniverse DataNet exceeds the stringent standards set by the GSMA in its Near Real Time Roaming Data Exchange (NRTRDE) guidelines. The GSMA has set a target date of October 2008 for operators to implement NRTRDE and reduce the window for potential roaming fraud that exists with the current outmoded High Usage Report (HUR) system.

Syniverse also continues to work closely with the GSMA in defining industry standards for fraud prevention. It chairs both GSMA groups responsible for NRTRDE technical specifications and for NRTRDE interworking procedures between vendors, and is a member of the NRTRDE Steering Committee, which is in charge of the overall commercial and technical guidance on NRTRDE. Syniverse also is the official author and editor of key technical specifications that ensure NRTRDE data can be quickly and easily actioned by operators eager to reduce fraud.
