Unusual 11 Mid-Day Movers 10/27: (QUIK) (GOK) (KID) Higher; (ORRF) (TQNT) (MDR) Lower

QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK) 30.9% HIGHER; announced hat Kyocera is the first smartphone OEM to bring a product to the Japan market using a CSSP that includes QuickLogic's Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) and Display Power Optimizer (DPO) technologies, and an integrated Mobile Display Digital Interface (MDDI) to RGB bridge. Kyocera announced on September 26 that its first Android smartphone for the Japan market, DIGNO, will be offered on KDDI Corporation's au network in Japan.

Orrstown Financial (Nasdaq: ORRF) 30.3% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.54, inline with the analyst estimate of $0.54. The company announced it is suspending its dividend this quarter. The dividend had yielded about 7 percent as of yesterday's close.

Geokinetics (AMEX: GOK) 27% HIGHER; stock seems to be breaking above the $2.50 level today but is having trouble topping resistance around $3. Traders may also be playing the stock on rather sharply higher crude oil prices this afternoon. NYMEX crude is up 3.5 percent to around $93.40/barrel at last check.

Kid Brands (NYSE: KID) 25.1% HIGHER; continuing higher today following a nearly 10 percent decline yesterday. The stock appears to be holding above the 200-day SMA today.

Triquint Semiconductor, Inc. (Nasdaq: TQNT) 25.1% LOWER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.11, 1 cent better than the analyst estimate of $0.10. Revenue for the quarter came in at $216 million versus the consensus estimate of $214.15 million. Triquint sees Q4 2011 EPS of $0.06 to $0.08, versus the consensus of $0.14, and revenue of $215 to $225 million, versus the consensus of $230.66 million. During the fourth quarter, the company expects lower factory utilization as it burns through excess inventory and weak product mix to drive gross margin of 32 percent to 34 percent.

VASCO Data Security International Inc. (Nasdaq: VDSI) 24.2% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.15, 9 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.06. Revenue for the quarter came in at $41.4 million, versus the consensus estimate of $37.22 million. Sees sales growing in the 45-55% range during FY11, up from prior guidance of 40% or more growth.

McDermott (NYSE: MDR) 24.1% LOWER; offered preliminary third-quarter results: EPS in the range of 3 to 5 cents on sales of $870 to $880 million. The Street is looking for third-quarter EPS of 29 cents on sales of $893.6 million. Sees FY12 sales equal to FY11 as "achievable." Sees operating margins of 7 to 10 percent.

Synutra (Nasdaq: SYUT) 23.1% HIGHER; the stock is off to the races this week as shares pushed over resistance around $5 early Monday. Shares are up more than 42 percent this week.

LDK Solar (NYSE: LDK) 23% HIGHER; solar stocks are absolutely ripping today amid several factors: crude oil bouncing more than 3 percent and, probably more importantly, the agreement in the Eurozone. Solar investors may be hoping the eventual easing of the Euro crisis will lead to renewed subsidies in the region.

AXT, Inc. (Nasdaq: AXTI) 21.1% LOWER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.19, in-line with the analyst estimate of $0.19. Revenue for the quarter came in at $28.3 million versus the consensus estimate of $30.38 million. AXT sees Q4 2011 EPS of $0.08 to $0.12, versus the consensus of $0.18, and revenue of $20 to $23 million, versus the consensus of $30.1 million.

Avon Products, Inc. (NYSE: AVP) 17.7% LOWER; reported Q3 EPS of $0.38, 8 cents worse than the analyst estimate of $0.46. Revenue for the quarter came in at $2.71 billion versus the consensus estimate of $2.83 billion. The stock was also downgraded at Stifel Nicolaus Thursday morning.

NII Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: NIHD) 15.7% LOWER; reported Q3 EPS of ($0.02), which may not compare to the analyst estimate of $0.59. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.75 billion versus the consensus estimate of $1.8 billion. NII Holdings, Inc. sees FY2011 revenue of $6.8 billion, versus the consensus of $6.96 billion.
