ViaCell (NASDAQ: VIAC) 52% HIGHER; PerkinElmer (NYSE: PKI) announced the acquisition of ViaCell for $7.25 a share, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $300 million.
Max & Erma's (NASDAQ: MAXE) 27% HIGHER: Stock has moved higher the second session a row after falling earlier on the month on sale prospects and Q3 results.
Copernic Inc (NASDAQ: CNIC) 19% HIGHER: Expanded retail presence by means of a strategic agreement with WinCorp Software, Inc. to increase software sales by growing its Value Added Reseller Network
Printronix (Nasdaq: PTNX) 15% HIGHER; Vector Capital is buying Printronix, the maker of printing software and hardware, for $108 million in cash. The offer price of $16 a share is about 18% higher than Printronix's Monday closing price of $13.52.
Luminent Mortgage (NYSE: LUM) 14.7% HIGHER; said after the close on Monday that it repaid much of its debt, limiting the risk that it will run out of cash. The Company has also entered into an amended definitive credit agreement with Arco Capital Corporation, providing the Company with a revolving liquidity line of credit of up to $60 million to be used to stabilize existing repurchase agreements, to meet financing maturities and to provide working capital.
Beazer Homes (NYSE: BZH) 10% HIGHER; Home builder stocks are rallying for a second consecutive day on hope that the housing market has bottomed.
MIVA, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIVA) 35% LOWER; Expects its results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2007, will be below previously issued guidance. Based on preliminary third quarter results, the Company expects to report Q3 2007 revenue of approximately $36.7 to $37.1 million, compared to the Company's prior guidance for revenue of $38.0 to $39.0 million.
EFJ, Inc. (Nasdaq: EFJI) 34% LOWER; Expects revenues to be between $160 million and $170 million compared to its original forecast of $185 million to $195 million for the year. The Wall Street consensus is $187.6 million. It also announced that its 2007 operating income/loss is expected to be between income of $1 million and a loss of $2 million, versus its initial projection of $7 million to $10 million.
TranSwitch Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC) 14.5% LOWER; expects revenues for the third quarter ending September 30, 2007, to be between $7.0 million and $7.4 million compared prior guidance of approximately $9.3 to $10.5 million. The Wall Street consensus is $10 million.
Vignette (Nasdaq: VIGN) 12% LOWER; Preliminary results indicate third-quarter revenue is expected to be in the range of $42 to $44 million and non-GAAP net income to be between $0.16 and $0.21 per share on a fully diluted basis. The consensus estimates is $48 million and $.19 per share respectively.
Claymont Steel (Nasdaq: PLTE) 12% LOWER; Lowered third quarter net earnings to be in the range of $.05 to $.10 per share. The Wall Street consensus is $0.43. The Company experienced unexpected challenges in August related to the restart of its reheat furnace following an upgrade completed as planned during the recent annual Plate Mill outage. This led to lower than planned output and shipments, which are expected to impact the Company's third quarter EBITDA by approximately $7.5 million and will also impact fourth quarter EBITDA by approximately $2.3 million.
