UPWARD MOVERS:
Alabama National BanCorporp (NASDAQ: ALAB) +$23.92; RBC Centura Banks, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE: RY) acquire Alabama National BanCorporation for $80 per share.

Rio Tinto plc (NYSE: RTP) +$12.84; Rumors rivals BHP Billiton (NYSE: BHP) and Cia. Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) could make a joint bid for the company. Also, Bernstein upgraded the stock this morning.

Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. (NYSE: AEM) +$4.00; Gold sector/industry up 5.84% today.

Biogen Idec (Nasdaq: BIIB) +$3.83; Company will announce goal to generate revenue growth at a 15% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) and non-GAAP EPS at a 20% CAGR from 2007 through 2010. CEO to reiterate guidance for the full-year 2007. On July 24, in reporting its second-quarter financial results, the company increased the full-year guidance to: Total revenue growth of 16%-18% over 2006; Non-GAAP diluted EPS - reflecting the repurchase of $3 billion of shares through the recently completed Dutch tender offer - in the range of $2.60 to $2.70, representing 16% to 20% annual growth. (Consensus is $2.68)

Volt Information Sciences (NYSE: VOL) +$3.71; Reports Q3 EPS of $0.40, 9 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $610.5 million vs. $566.03 million consensus.


DOWNWARD MOVERS:
LandAmerica Financial Group Inc. (NYSE: LFG) -$4.94; Surety & Title Insurance sector/industry down 2.73% today.

J. Crew Group (NYSE: JCG) -$4.80; Reports Q2 EPS of $0.32, 3 cents better than estimates. Revenues came in at $304.7 million versus the consensus of $308.5 million. The Company\'s long-term annual financial targets include comparable store sales growth in the mid single-digit range, Direct sales growth in the high single-digits, net square footage expansion in the 7% to 9% range, and diluted EPS growth in excess of 20%.

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG); -$3.73; Reuters reports the EU has sent questionnaires to Google customers with regards the proposed takeover of Doubleclick. Google is expected to file with the EU\'s top antitrust regulator for the purchase of Doubleclick by Mid-Sept. sources said.

Martek Biosciences (Nasdaq: MATK) -$2.08; Reports Q3 EPS of $0.19, 1 cent better than estimates. Revenues came in at $77.8 million versus the consensus of $78.5 million. Sees Q4 EPS of $0.20-$0.21, versus the consensus of $0.19. Sees Q4 revs of $77-$80 million versus the consensus of $78.3 million.

JoS. A. Bank Clothiers, Inc. (Nasdaq: JOSB) -$1.90; Comparable store sales gained 7.7% in fiscal August 2007. Total net sales for the fiscal month ended September 1, 2007 (fiscal August 2007) increased 14.5% to $33.9 million.
