Seagate Technology plc (NASDAQ: STX) 18.4% HIGHER; announced Thursday that it has received preliminary interest in transaction to go private. The company confirmed that it is in discussions with the party from whom it received interest and the company's board of directors is evaluating indication of interest from the party and other possible strategic alternatives.

Google, Inc. (Nasdaq: GOOG) 9% HIGHER; reports Q3 EPS of $7.64, vs. the analyst estimate of $6.68. Revenue for the quarter was $5.48 billion ex-TAC, which compares to the estimate of $5.25 billion.
Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDS) 8% LOWER; is offering to sell shares of its common stock in an underwritten public offering. Anadys expects to grant the underwriter a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 15% of the shares of common stock offered in the public offering to cover over-allotments, if any. All of the shares in the offering are to be sold by Anadys. Anadys intends to use the net proceeds from the offering to support a Phase IIb study of ANA598, which Anadys is on track to commence early in the first quarter of 2011, as well as for general corporate purposes, including working capital.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE: AMD) 5.5% HIGHER; reports Q3 loss of $0.17, or, on an adjusted-basis, a gain of $0.15. The Street was looking for EPS of $0.06. Revenue for the quarter was $1.62 billion, which compares to the estimate of $1.61 billion. Gross margin of 46%. Sees Q4 sales about unchanged sequentially.
Gulfport Energy Corp. (NASDAQ: GPOR) 4.8% HIGHER; will replace American Physicians Capital Inc. (NASDAQ: ACAP) in the S&P SmallCap 600 index
Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) 2.8% HIGHER; trading higher amid Google's blowout quarterly results.
Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Nasdaq: CBST) 2.2% LOWER; reports Q3 EPS of $0.72, 31 cents better than the analyst estimate of $0.41. Revenue for the quarter was $162.1 million, which compares to the estimate of $167.64 million. Narrowed FY10 sales guidance to $645 - $650 million, compared the Street's view of $654 Million. Raises operating income guidance range for full year to $185 - $195 million.
