Trump Entertainment Resorts (Nasdaq: TRMP): Reports negotiations to buy the company have stalled and the company will not get nearly as much as they were asking.
DivX, Inc. (Nasdaq: DIVX): Takeover speculation
Quest Software (Nasdaq: QSFT): Stifel Nicolaus raises its price target to $21 and says, "Quest could represent an attractive consolidation candidate and we could envision both strategic and go private scenarios."
HealthSpring (NYSE: HS): 5% holder Clinton Group suggested the company undertake a leveraged recapitalization and a Dutch tender offer. Clinton also notes a potential privatization, in which they could participate.
Sonesta International Hotels Corp. (Nasdaq: SNSTA): Large 9.4% holder Mercury Real Estate Advisors LLC applauded the company\'s move to hire Goldman Sachs to explore strategic options.
Cepheid (Nasdaq: CPHD): Takeover chatter following Roche\'s hostile bid for Ventana Medical Systems(Nasdaq: VMSI) yesterday.
Komag Inc. (Nasdaq: KOMG): Takeover speculation
Freeport-McMoRan. (NYSE: FCX): Renewed takeover speculation. Recently large holder Atticus Capital said they have, "met with, and may in the future continue to meet with, third parties to encourage them to consider strategic transactions involving the Company that are designed to maximize shareholder value for Company shareholders."
NYMEX Holdings (NYSE: NMX): Renewed takeover speculation. NYSE Euronext, Inc. (NYSE: NYX), Deutsche Boerse AG, InterContinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE) have been linked to merger talk with NYMEX. Chicago Mercantile (NYSE: CME) was also mentioned as a possible suitor in the past but they denied the talk.
H&R Block (NYSE: HRB): Takeover speculation after activist investor Breeden Capital said they will nominate 3 to the company\'s board. Breeden said HRB doesn\'t necessarily need to be sold, but things need to change.
