RAMALLAH, West Bank (Reuters) - Palestinian security officers killed a gunman in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, a rare intra-Palestinian clash whose circumstances were disputed and which the fighter's faction described as an Israeli-style "assassination".

S.Korea pension fund targets ratio of risky assets at 65% in new portfolio May 2, 2024 04:28AM

SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea's National Pension Service (NPS), manager of the world's third-largest public pension fund, will allocate 65% of its assets in risky assets under new long-term asset allocation rules, the welfare ministry said on Thursday.

Ex-BOJ official predicts Japan will keep intervening to prevent yen free-fall May 2, 2024 04:26AM

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japan will likely keep intervening to prop up the yen until the risk of speculators triggering a free fall in the currency has been eliminated, said a former central bank official who was involved in Tokyo's market forays a decade ago.

The yen jumped on Thursday on what traders suspect was the second day of intervention following such action on Monday to stem the currency's sharp declines.

Switzerland says Russia not invited 'at this stage' to Ukraine peace talks May 2, 2024 04:22AM

ZURICH (Reuters) - The Swiss government said on Thursday that Russia has not been invited "at this stage" to talks to be held in Switzerland in mid-June aimed at helping bring about peace in the conflict between Moscow and Ukraine.

"Switzerland is convinced that Russia must be involved in this process," the Swiss government said in a statement. "A peace process without Russia is not possible."
