Google faces closing arguments in US market power trial May 2, 2024 06:04AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. government will layout its antitrust case against Alphabet's Google in closing arguments on Thursday, wrapping up a trial in which the online search leader is accused of breaking the law to stay on top.

The U.S. government has hammered away at Google in a trial that started Sept. 12, arguing Google is a monopolist and illegally abused its power to favor its bottom line.

Cigna sees strong annual profit on lower costs, pharmacy benefit strength May 2, 2024 06:03AM

(Reuters) - Health insurer Cigna Group raised its annual profit forecast on Thursday, as lower-than-expected medical costs and strength in its pharmacy benefit management unit helped it beat first-quarter earnings estimates.

The company now expects an adjusted profit of at least $28.40 per share in 2024, up 15 cents from its previous forecast.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York prosecutors on Thursday will ask the judge overseeing Donald Trump's criminal hush money trial to impose more fines on the former U.S. president for violating a gag order that prohibits him from talking about witnesses and jurors.

Israeli war cabinet to meet on hostages, Rafah plan on Thursday May 2, 2024 06:00AM

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Top Israeli ministers will convene on Thursday to discuss a proposed Gaza truce to free some hostages held by Hamas, as well as prospects for an army sweep of the southern tip of the enclave packed with displaced Palestinians, a government source said.
