PABRADE TRAINING GROUND, LITHUANIA, (Reuters) - German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on Wednesday he was not prepared to lower his demands for the 2025 defence budget or accept a compromise right now.

(Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a bill that aims to create a new legal framework for digital currencies, despite an unusual warning from the U.S. securities regulator it could create new financial risks.
The Republican-sponsored Financial Innovation and Technology for the 21st Century Act passed in a bipartisan 279-136 vote. It is not clear if the Senate will take up the measure.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -A U.S. judge temporarily blocked part of a Florida law on Wednesday that imposes criminal penalties for willfully transporting people who lack legal immigration status into the state.
The law, which took effect in 2023, amended the crime of human smuggling to classify such cases as felonies.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - One Iraqi soldier was killed and two were wounded after an explosive device detonated on their vehicle in an area between the Diyala and Salahuddin governorates in eastern Iraq on Wednesday, two security sources said.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement on its Telegram channel later on Wednesday.
