WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Senate finance and budget committees on Thursday launched an investigation into presidential candidate Donald Trump's reported offer to roll back a slew of environmental regulations in exchange for $1 billion in campaign contributions.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday called former President Donald Trump’s claims that the FBI was authorized to shoot him during its 2022 search of his Florida club “false” and “extremely dangerous.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The average rate on the popular U.S. 30-year mortgage rate fell below 7% this week for the first time in more than a month, which could help revive the housing market's waning fortunes.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.94% during the week ending May 23, the lowest level and first reading below 7% since the second week of April, down from 7.02% in the prior week, mortgage finance agency Freddie Mac said on Thursday.
... (continue reading...)(Reuters) - Danish company Orsted has secured an investment of $680 million in tax equity financing from J.P. Morgan for a portfolio of solar and storage assets in Texas and Arizona, the clean energy developer said on Thursday.
The tax equity allows for tax credit transferability under 2022 President Biden's Inflation Reduction Act, which corporate buyers can purchase to support clean energy storage projects in the U.S.

BRASILIA (Reuters) - A minimum tax on billionaires is likely to gain wider traction among the G20 group of the world's largest economies as they get clarity on the proposal, French economist Gabriel Zucman of the independent European Union Tax Observatory said in an interview on Wednesday.
