BENI, Democratic Republic of Congo (Reuters) - Suspected Islamist rebels killed at least 10 people in an overnight attack on a village in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a local official and a civil society leader said on Saturday.

Armed men attacked the village of Masala in Beni territory, which lies in North Kivu province, overnight on Friday, military administrator Charles Euta Omeonga told Reuters by phone.

(Reuters) - Russian air defence units destroyed three Ukrainian drones on Saturday in Russia's town of Mozdok in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, regional head Sergey Meniaylo said.

It was the first drone attack on the region, Russian news agencies reported.

Meniaylo, writing on the Telegram messaging app, said that the attack had caused "minor damage and fires", and that no one was injured.

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Chinese air force jets circled a Dutch frigate and approached a Dutch helicopter in the East China Sea in a way that "caused a potentially unsafe situation," the Netherlands' Defense Ministry said on Saturday.

In a statement, the Ministry said the HNLMS Tromp was patrolling on Friday in support of U.N. sanctions against North Korea when it was circled several times by two Chinese fighter jets.
