SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft talked up new tools on Tuesday aimed at encouraging programmers to build the AI-focused technology into Windows-related software as it races against Alphabet, Amazon.com and Apple to dominate the emerging technology.

Netherlands will no longer allow international adoptions May 21, 2024 01:16PM

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The Netherlands will no longer permit its citizens to adopt children from foreign countries, a Dutch government minister said on Tuesday.

Minister for Legal Protection Franc Weerwind added that intercountry procedures that already started will continue for the time being.

Slowing EV uptake may delay Panasonic's EV battery expansion, CEO says May 21, 2024 01:05PM

TOKYO (Reuters) - A slowdown in the take-up of electric vehicles in the U.S. may prompt Tesla-supplier Panasonic to delay investing in additional plants to boost its automotive battery capacity in North America, the Japanese group's chief executive said.

UN plans new routes for halted Gaza aid deliveries from US-built pier May 21, 2024 12:59PM

(Reuters) - The United Nations is planning new routes to distribute aid from a U.S.-built pier in Gaza, a spokesperson said, after crowds of needy residents intercepted trucks, causing a halt to deliveries that continued for a third day on Tuesday.

The temporary, floating pier is meant to help ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, though aid workers say that only deliveries through land borders can ensure relief on the scale that is needed.

US to close Northeast gasoline reserve with 1 million-barrel sale May 21, 2024 12:58PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Biden administration will sell nearly 1 million barrels of gasoline in the U.S. managed stockpile in northeastern states as required by law, the Department of Energy said on Tuesday, effectively closing the reserve.

The department created the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve in 2014 after Superstorm Sandy left motorists scrambling for fuel. But storing refined fuel is costlier than storing... (continue reading...)
