BEIRUT (Reuters) - Israeli strikes on southern and eastern Lebanon killed at least five people on Friday including Lebanese militants, Palestinian fighters and Syrian civilians, security sources told Reuters.

Fed's Bowman repeats she's willing to hike rates if needed May 17, 2024 12:42PM

(Reuters) - U.S. Federal Reserve Governor Michelle Bowman on Friday repeated her view that inflation will fall further with the policy rate held steady, but said she has seen no improvement on inflation this year and remains willing to hike rates should progress stall or reverse.

US arrests two Chinese nationals in $73 million crypto scam May 17, 2024 12:26PM

(Reuters) - U.S. authorities charged two Chinese nationals in a cryptocurrency scam that laundered at least $73 million from defrauded victims, the Justice Department said on Friday.

EU bans distribution of four Russian news outlets May 17, 2024 12:23PM

LONDON (Reuters) - The European Union said on Friday it was suspending the distribution of four Russia-linked media outlets in the EU, despite a warning from Moscow this week that any such move would draw swift retaliation.

Gunmen kill three foreign tourists in Afghanistan's central Bamyan province May 17, 2024 12:22PM

KABUL (Reuters) - Three foreign tourists and one Afghan citizen were killed by gunmen in Afghanistan's central Bamyan province on Friday, the interior ministry said.

Four foreign nationals and three Afghans were also injured in the attack when gunmen opened fire, said interior ministry spokesman Abdul MateenĀ Qaniee. Four people have been arrested, he said.
