New Zealand signs MOU with German institute on Antarctica cooperation May 3, 2024 10:25PM

(Reuters) - New Zealand said on Saturday that its Antarctic agency signed a memorandum of understanding with Germany's Alfred Wegener Institute to foster cooperation between the two polar science bodies, amid China's growing presence in Antarctica.

Canada's arrests of three Indian men in Sikh leader's death 'bittersweet,' friend says May 3, 2024 10:22PM

TORONTO (Reuters) - If Hardeep Singh Nijjar were alive, he and his friend Moninder Singh would probably be chatting in a backyard over milkshakes.

But he is not. The Canadian Sikh leader was gunned down almost a year ago in British Columbia.

Moninder Singh lost his friend of 15 years last June outside a Sikh temple in Surrey, a Vancouver suburb with a large Sikh population.

OTTAWA (Reuters) -Canadian police on Friday arrested and charged three Indian men with the murder of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year and said they were probing whether the men had ties to the Indian government.

Fed's Williams says 2% inflation target 'critical' May 3, 2024 08:16PM

Fed's Goolsbee: US rate-path 'dot plot' needs more context May 3, 2024 07:47PM

PALO ALTO, California (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Reserve should beef up its quarterly "dot plot" of policymakers' interest-rate-path views by including the individual economic expectations that inform each one, Austan Goolsbee, president of the Chicago Fed, said on Friday.
