Huawei SUV crash kills three in China's Shanxi province, says state media Apr 28, 2024 09:14PM

BEIJING (Reuters) - Three people died, including a two-year old boy, after a Huawei AITO M7 SUV burst into flames after crashing into a truck on a highway in Yuncheng, in China's north Shanxi province on Friday, Chinese state media reported.

AITO Automobile, a Huawei-backed new energy vehicle brand, is investigating the incident in collaboration with the local traffic police department, the company said in a statement released on its WeChat and Weibo... (continue reading...)

Dollar a tad softer as markets wait for Fed Apr 28, 2024 08:57PM

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The U.S. dollar was a shade softer in early deals on Monday, thinned by a holiday in Japan, though the yen, euro and sterling stayed near the bottom of the ranges hit during Friday's volatile session.

Japan's yen was at 158.05 per dollar, up nearly 0.2% in quiet trading with Tokyo markets closed for the first of the country's Golden Week holidays.

Oil prices pare gains on U.S. inflation concerns Apr 28, 2024 08:28PM

BEIJING (Reuters) - Oil prices fell in early Asian trading on Monday, reversing gains from Friday as U.S. inflation data further dimmed the prospects of interest rate cuts anytime soon and boosted the dollar, which hurts oil demand.

Brent crude futures fell 75 cents, or 0.84%, to $88.75 a barrel while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) futures were down 65 cents, or 0.78%, to $83.20 a barrel by 1221 GMT.

SK Innovation expects solid Q2 refining margins, battery unit widen losses Apr 28, 2024 08:08PM

SEOUL (Reuters) -SK Innovation Co Ltd, owner of South Korea's top refiner SK Energy, said on Monday it expects solid refining margins to continue in the second quarter backed by firm demand.

The company posted an operating profit of 625 billion won ($454 million) for the January-March period, versus a 375 billion won profit a year earlier. That compared with an average analyst forecast of 466 billion won.
