UN chief urges tech sector to power data centers with renewables Jul 22, 2025 09:03AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.N. Secretary General António Guterres on Tuesday called on tech companies to power the build out of data centers with 100% renewable energy by 2030, even as the industry turns to gas and coal-fired power plants to meet surging demand.

IMF warns tariffs aren't the answer to global imbalances Jul 22, 2025 09:03AM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Global current account balances widened sharply in 2024, reversing a narrowing under way since the global financial crisis of 2008-2009, the International Monetary Fund said on Tuesday, warning that tariffs were not the answer.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Jerusalem's Latin Patriarch, said on Tuesday he and church leaders had returned from a visit to Gaza with "broken hearts", calling the spiralling humanitarian crisis there "morally unacceptable".

European second-quarter corporate profits expected to fall 0.3% Jul 22, 2025 08:51AM

(Reuters) -The outlook for European corporate health has slightly improved, the latest earnings forecasts showed on Tuesday, despite continued uncertainty over global trade and the European Union preparing for counter-measures against any major U.S. tariffs.
