NEW DELHI (Reuters) - The chief minister of India's capital New Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, surrendered to prison authorities on Sunday as the interim bail granted by the country's top court in a corruption case ended, his party officials said.

Saudi leads as Gulf bourses end higher; Egypt extends loss Jun 2, 2024 09:23AM

(Reuters) - Most stock markets in the Gulf ended higher on Sunday, led by the Saudi index, after a U.S. inflation reading supported expectations of interest rate cuts from the Federal Reserve.

Saudi Arabia's benchmark index rose 1.1% after it hit a more than five-month low on Thursday. The index was lifted by gains in almost all sectors, led by the IT, utilities and healthcare stocks.

Israeli justices press government on religious conscription waivers Jun 2, 2024 09:22AM

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The top Israeli court heard responses by the state on Sunday to challenges against exemptions granted to ultra-Orthodox Jews from military conscription, a long-standing source of friction with more secular citizens now inflamed by the long Gaza war.

Australian trust in US fell, but security alliance vital, says poll Jun 2, 2024 08:54AM

SYDNEY (Reuters) - An annual poll of how Australians view foreign relations showed trust in the United States has dipped, although most (83%) saw the U.S. alliance as important for security, and 63% said it makes Australia safer from attack or pressure from China.
