Huawei's high-profile consumer boss Richard Yu shifts role May 1, 2024 02:39AM

(Reuters) - China's Huawei Technologies has named the high-profile chief of its consumer business, Yu Chengdong, to a new role chairing the unit, a person with knowledge of the matter said.

The move was announced within Huawei last week, the person said. He Gang, the consumer business group's chief operating officer, will now be CEO. Yu's new title is chairman.

UK's Domino's Pizza sees slow start in second quarter May 1, 2024 02:36AM

(Reuters) - Britain's Domino's Pizza Group said on Tuesday the second quarter started off slower due to a stronger comparative period after it reported a dip in sales and lower orders in the first quarter.

The company, which operates and franchises Domino's stores in the UK and Ireland, said like-for-like sales on a comparable basis were down 0.5%, with orders down 0.8% for the 13 weeks ended on March 31.

Aston Martin's quarterly loss swells more than expected May 1, 2024 02:23AM

(Reuters) -Aston Martin posted a bigger-than-expected first-quarter pretax loss on Wednesday as the British luxury carmaker made fewer cars than market expectations and finance costs soared.

Total wholesale volumes for the first three months of the year came in at 945, below analysts' average expectations of 1,024, according to a company-compiled consensus.

New Zealand not close to decision on joining AUKUS pact, minister says May 1, 2024 02:10AM

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - New Zealand’s government is continuing "information gathering discussions" on future cooperation with the AUKUS security pact but is "a long way" from being able to make a decision on this, the country’s foreign minister said on Wednesday.

UK house prices fall unexpectedly in April, Nationwide data shows May 1, 2024 02:09AM

LONDON (Reuters) -British house prices fell unexpectedly for a second month running during April, figures from mortgage lender Nationwide showed on Wednesday.

House prices fell 0.4% month-on-month, after a 0.2% drop in March. A Reuters poll had pointed to a 0.2% increase.

In annual terms, house price growth cooled to 0.6% from 1.6%.
