DUBLIN (Reuters) -Ireland will boost spending on infrastructure projects over the next five years by 23%, to 112 billion euros ($131 billion), as it takes advantage of a windfall of multinational tax, including a 14 billion euro Apple back-tax payment.

Apple supplier Goertek to buy Luen Fung Commercial's units for $1.3 billion Jul 22, 2025 07:55AM

BEIJING (Reuters) -Apple supplier Goertek Inc said on Tuesday it plans to buy two units of Hong Kong's Luen Fung Commercial Holdings for about combined HK$10.4 billion ($1.32 billion).

The acquisition of Mega Precision Technology and Channel Well Industrial would help Goertek strengthen competitiveness in the field of precision structural components, the company said in a Shenzhen stock exchange filing.

Syrian committee reports 1,426 killed in March massacres of Alawites Jul 22, 2025 07:54AM

BEIRUT (Reuters) -A Syrian fact-finding committee said on Tuesday that 1,426 people, including 90 women, were killed during the March 7-9 massacres of Syrian Alawites along the country's Mediterranean coast.

The committee had come up with an initial list of 298 suspects and had sent two lists of names to the courts, spokesperson Yasser Farhan said.

UK man convicted of offering minister's information to Russian intelligence Jul 22, 2025 07:50AM

LONDON (Reuters) -A British man who offered personal information about former defence minister Grant Shapps to Russian intelligence for money was on Tuesday found guilty of assisting a foreign intelligence service.

Howard Phillips offered Shapps' home address and phone number to two people he believed were Russian agents but were in fact British undercover officers, prosecutors said.
