An additional 100 vehicles have been added to the car2go New York fleet, with a total of 550 smart fortwo vehicles now available to help members easily travel throughout Brooklyn and Queens on their own terms.

car2go New York has continued to expand since launching in Brooklyn in October 2014, and has grown to more than 32,000 members in less than a year. Now spanning 44 square miles, the expanded car2go New York Home Area includes much of western Brooklyn and Queens, offering a convenient option for traveling to and from neighborhoods that have previously been challenging to access. car2go also presents an attractive complement to public transit – to date, more than one third of car2go trips in Brooklyn have ended near a subway stop.

From now until October 4th, 2015, car2go is offering a referral program that will allow existing car2go members to receive 20 free driving minutes for each friend or family member they refer. Each referred new member will receive a discounted member registration of $10, as well as 30 free minutes of drive time. When members are finished using the vehicle, they may park at any city un-metered space, or on any residential neighborhood street within the car2go Home Area. Parking, fuel, insurance, and maintenance are included at no additional cost.

Members can use the car2go service by the minute and pay only for the time they use the vehicle, with discounted rates for hourly and daily use. There are no annual or monthly fees required to use the service.
