Intelligent Controlled Spaces on Display at NRA Booth 9122

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Apex Supply Chain Technologies®, a global leader in automated dispensing systems, has introduced Apex Intelligent Controlled Spaces (ICS) to help restaurants gain better control over high-value back-of-house inventory. Apex ICS is a secured area, as large as a warehouse or as small as a closet and made intelligent by Apex sensing and cloud technology. It will be on display in booth #9122 at the National Restaurant Association Show in Chicago.

“Intelligent Controlled Spaces uses proprietary SmarterSpaces technology combined with controlled automation to help restaurant, hospitality and F&B managers know how much high-value or critical inventory is on hand. ICS provides peace of mind. Shrinkage is eliminated and managers never have to worry about running out of their beverages, food, or any other important items in stock,” said Kent Savage, Apex president and CEO. “ICS automatically delivers precise inventory management and replenishment that saves both time and money.”

Many restaurants still keep liquor, wine and other types of high value inventory on shelves or in locked closets, available to anyone with a key. This approach offers no control over who has access, and no visibility into who is using it or how much is left.

Control High-value Inventory

Apex Intelligent Controlled Spaces are enclosed, secure, intelligent spaces which can be configured to any size. Access into the space is granted with an individual PIN or ID badge, and can be restricted to certain employees by a supervisor. Inside the space, patented Apex sensor technology tracks in real time what’s on hand and what’s been used.

When authorized employees pull an item from the space, Apex Trajectory Cloud software records the details of the transaction. Trajectory notifies managers with electronic reports so they can see how much was taken, when and by whom, and more importantly, the system knows when it’s time to restock and will issue replenishment orders directly to suppliers/distributors, making stockouts and rush orders a thing of the past.

By establishing a digital record of who is using each item in the space, Trajectory makes it easy for managers to talk with employees about items that may have been misplaced. As employees realize that each transaction is monitored, accountability improves as well.

Automated Inventory Counts

Managers who had been counting their inventory by hand will find that Trajectory’s automated tracking is more accurate, and frees valuable hours which can be used for more important tasks.

Trajectory also reports on long-term usage patterns at an individual and an enterprise level helping management spot consumption trends, as well as make adjustments for specific items that are being used more or less than projected.
