Kidney Cancer Association National Patient Conference Slated for Houston

March 30, 2015 4:01 AM EDT

Houston, Tex. (PRWEB) March 30, 2015

The Kidney Cancer Association (KCA) and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center will hold the 2015 National Kidney Cancer Patient and Survivor meeting in Houston, Texas, on April 11. The one-day event, hosted by Christopher G. Wood, M.D., and his colleagues, attracts people from across the USA who share a common interest in the treatment of this rare and deadly cancer.

"We've made remarkable strides in the treatment of renal cancers," says Carrie Konosky, KCA's VP for Development and Public Affairs. She adds, "In fact, there's so much information about kidney cancer available today that it's sometimes overwhelming for the newly diagnosed patient who's trying to develop a plan with his or her doctor to treat advanced disease. This meeting helps to address that by putting patients in the same room with experts."

The meeting will also be streamed live on YouTube, so those who live outside the USA will also have access to this valuable information. The Twitter hashtag #KidneyCancer will be used to enable people watching the live stream to ask questions.

The conference will be held on Saturday, April 11, starting at 8:00 a.m. CDT. Those interested in attending may view the agenda and register online.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of KCA's founding. It is a charitable organization made up of patients, family members, physicians, researchers, and other health professionals globally. It is the world's first international charity dedicated specifically to the eradication of death and suffering from renal cancers. It is also by far the largest organization of its kind, with members in more than 100 countries.
