JetBlue announced it was adding Nashville to its growing list of destinations in July as part of its commitment to growth in both Boston and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood. In Boston JetBlue will operate more than 130 daily flights and nearly 100 daily flights in Fort Lauderdale this year.

"As a thriving tourist destination and a fast-growing city for business travelers, Nashville is an exciting city to add to the JetBlue network," said John Checketts, director route planning, revenue management at JetBlue. "And by linking it to our focus cities in the northeast and South Florida, JetBlue customers can enjoy all that Nashville has to offer and also benefit from easy connections to destinations across the U.S., Caribbean and Latin America."

Known around the world as "Music City," Nashville is home to some 180 recording studios, more than 5,000 musicians and features top-tier attractions including the Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry. Tennessee's capital city is also home to two major sports league teams and has one of the most diverse and fastest-growing economies in the region.

"Our current growth is unprecedented and our ability to sustain our momentum is directly tied to expanded air service," said Butch Spyridon, President and CEO of the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. "The addition of JetBlue to Nashville is music to our ears!"

In 2012 Nashville International Airport marked its 75th anniversary. The one million square foot terminal features over 50 shops and restaurants and handles more than 11 million travelers annually.

"JetBlue is an outstanding airline known for its high quality customer satisfaction," said Rob Wigington, President and CEO Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. "We are delighted to have them join our roster of airlines serving the Middle Tennessee market. Their presence here means more and better flights and choices for all our customers, from the busy business traveler to the family on vacation to the multitude of visitors coming to enjoy the Nashville experience. Welcome to Music City!"
