JOEY LOGANO CAPTURES THE CHECKERED FLAG AT TALLADEGA POWERED BY SHELL TECHNOLOGY UNDER THE HOOD

October 25, 2016 11:31 AM EDT

No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion uses special formulation of Pennzoil racing oil developed by Shell scientists in partnership with Team Penske to maximize performance and engine reliability

Houston - October 25, 2016. Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion race team drove to victory lane at Talladega Superspeedway for the second consecutive season in Sunday afternoon's Hellmann's 500. Powered by PurePlusTM Technology under the hood, Logano started the race in the 16th position and quickly moved inside the top-10 where he ran for the majority of the race. Logano put the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford into the lead at lap 148 where he then stayed, leading the final 45 laps of the event.

"It's never a layup here at Talladega, it's always close," said Logano. "We did really great today with the Shell/Pennzoil Ford. We got that track position and just hung onto it. Now we've got to get ready for Martinsville."

This weekend's win was the 16th of Logano's career and second victory of 2016. In winning, Logano advanced to the Round of Eight for the third consecutive season.

"It's thrilling to see Joey grab the win and keep going in The Chase," said Paul Bogers, General Manager of Lubricants Technology for Pennzoil. "Shell and Pennzoil scientists work hand-in-hand with Team Penske year-round to optimize the special formulation of Pennzoil racing oil that Logano uses in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford Fusion and help maximize performance and engine reliability. All of that work at the track, and the knowledge gained, enables us to develop the next generation of high quality products for our customers."

The Pennzoil racing oil in the No. 22 car is formulated using PurePlus(TM) Technology, a revolutionary process that converts natural gas into a first-of-its-kind, high quality full synthetic base oil. This pure, clear PurePlus base oil has fewer of the impurities found in traditional base oils made from crude oil, allowing it to fully enhance the benefits of the additives in Pennzoil Platinum and Pennzoil Ultra Platinum(TM) Full Synthetic motor oils. In addition to blending a unique formulation for the Ford engine from week to week, Shell and Pennzoil scientists also tailor high performance lubricants for the Team Penske gearbox.
