Grant Thornton grows Atlanta Forensic and Valuation Services practice

Steven Kuzma, Joseph Galanti join the firm to enhance forensic and valuation services capabilities across the east coast

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Grant Thornton LLP is growing its Forensic and Valuation Services practice with the additions of Steven Kuzma and Joseph Galanti, who join as managing director and principal, respectively. Both will be based in Atlanta.

Kuzma has more than 35 years of experience providing Fortune 1000 company senior management teams, corporate boards, audit committees, and large law firms with investigative services, corporate compliance services, financial, accounting and economic analyses, valuation assistance, and complex commercial dispute resolution support. His experience spans a diverse range of industries, including retail, consumer and industrial products, financial services, healthcare, life sciences, entertainment, real estate agriculture, utilities and technology.

Most recently, Kuzma served as the Americas managing partner, global leader and Southeast region Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services practice leader at Ernst & Young LLP. At Ernst & Young he advised senior executives, boards and audit committees on complex issues in the areas of corporate compliance, commercial disputes, fraud and forensic investigations, lost profits, bankruptcy and insolvency, insurance claim and business interruption, franchise and dealership disputes, economic valuation and damages analysis. Prior to Ernst & Young, Kuzma was at The Walt Disney Company and Kroh Brothers as a senior financial planning analyst.

Kuzma is a certified public accountant in Georgia and Florida and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He is a certified fraud examiner (CFE) and a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). He is also a senior member of the American Society of Appraisers specializing in business valuation. He is also a certified compliance and ethics professional (CCEP). He received a master’s of business administration degree in finance and accounting from Rollins College and a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from Florida Atlantic University.

Galanti has more than 20 years of experience advising counsel and management on complex financial and accounting issues. He has extensive experience assisting clients as a damages specialist in lost profit, working capital and valuation disputes, fraud investigations and business interruption insurance claims. He has helped policyholders recover hundreds of millions of dollars of insurance claims and he has testified as a damages expert in federal, state, and international arbitration matters.

Most recently, Galanti was a managing director at Alvarez & Marsal Global Forensic and Dispute Services LLC, where he focused on damages cases and insurance claims. Prior to Alvarez & Marsal, Galanti was a principal within the Fraud Investigation and Dispute Services practice at Ernst & Young. Before that, he was a Litigation Specialist with the law firm of Kaye Scholer LLP in Washington, D.C., where he managed cases and performed financial analyses in litigation and international arbitration matters.

Galanti has authored numerous articles and book chapters on fraud, dispute and insurance claim topics, including the Litigation Services Handbook (Wiley), Business Interruption: Coverage, Claims and Recovery (National Underwriter), and The Guide to Investigating Business Fraud (AICPA).

Galanti is a chartered financial analyst (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute. He is also a CFE and a member of the ACFE. He received a master’s of business administration degree in finance and a bachelor’s degree in international economics from The George Washington University.
