RIVERWOODS, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Fortune, has ranked Discover 68th on its 2016 list of the 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials, based on surveys of more than 88,000 millennials at 600 organizations. The Fortune list recognizes companies that are best in terms of pay, shared decision-making and fair promotions for millennials.
“Discover is committed to creating a work environment that appeals to all backgrounds and perspectives, including talented young people, by offering benefits that take into account their lifestyles and what they value most,” said Doug Rose, chief human resource officer for Discover. “Offering benefits like tuition assistance and commuter reimbursement, as well as supporting Employee Resource Groups that connect our people to each other and to the company’s mission, helps Discover attract outstanding diverse talent that drives broader thinking.”
The surveys, conducted by Great Place to Work®, asked employees born in 1981 or later about 58 workplace-quality topics, including support for their professional development, managerial concern for their personal lives, communication channels, transparency, and their ability to be themselves during work hours. The ranking was announced last week.
“Our ideas are always heard, no matter your age or title in the company,” said 31-year-old Discover employee George Kraniotis, who co-chairs the company’s employee resource group for young professionals. “They provide a number of avenues to voice opinions on everything from benefits that fit your lifestyle, to suggestions for new product launches.”
"There are more similarities than differences when it comes to what different generations want in a great workplace," says Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work®. "Our research shows that company pride, a sense of community and competent, ethical leadership can bring millennials, gen Xers and baby boomers together for a great, high-performing workplace."
Discover’s employee benefits include 25 days of paid time-off in the first year, tuition reimbursement, competitive 401k options, employee stock purchase options and commuter discounts and conveniences.
