The redesigned journal seat features hardened inserts that offer a longer service life. The inserts are easily replaced without removing the chuck, and there is no need to replace full hand wheels when performing maintenance. The inserts can also be used with practically any application, which makes it easy to swap out and accommodate other shaft sizes.

The Convertech Safety Chuck can be ordered with additional options to meet your needs:

-Long housing design – Extend the shaft position up to 100mm away from standard for mount clearance and/or coupling alignment.

-Hand wheel safety lock (field reversible) – Prevents accidental opening of the hand wheel.

-Axial carrier – Make axial adjustments and maintain precise shaft positioning.

-Conical chuck journal seat – A cost effective alternative to machining journals that uses simple journals to reduce risk of excessive stress and wear.

-Hand wheel open/closed indication – An electronic sensor indicates if a hand wheel is open or closed.

-Hand wheel opening position indication – Monitor when the hand wheel is in precise opening position.

-High speed safety chuck – Balance the hand wheel (with safety lock) and shaft to handle web speeds at more than 300m (98 ft.) per minute.

-Integrated connection for direct inflation of winding shafts (G1800) – An easy and convenient way to automatically inflate winding shafts while shafts are installed in the chuck. This is ideal for applications that require differential winding shafts for automated shaft and roll handling.
