Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy Adds ASHP as Professional Development Program Provider

ALEXANDRIA, Va., July 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Commission for Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy has signed an agreement with ASHP, an organization that represents pharmacists in acute and ambulatory settings, to serve as a provider of continuing education for recertification of Certified Geriatric Pharmacists.  ASHP will develop a designated track of geriatric programs for this purpose.  ASHP will join the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists as authorized providers for the CCGP Professional Development Program.

"Over the last five years, CCGP has almost doubled in size," said CCGP Executive Director Thomas Clark, "now with over 2,800 Certified Geriatric Pharmacists.  At the same time, the settings in which these pharmacists practice have become more diverse, with the hospital setting now representing the largest number of Certified Geriatric Pharmacists."
