Breakthrough Modular Technology Unleashes Freedom to Create Virtually Seamless Digital Displays in Any Size, Any Shape, Any Place
CYPRESS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Unique MicroTiles(TM) digital display technology that creates a virtually seamless digital canvas in almost any size or shape - and offers spectacular, crisp visuals at any distance - is now available from Christie(R), a global leader in visual solutions for business, entertainment and industry.
Christie(R) MicroTiles(TM) are modular digital display tiles that can be stacked and clustered like building blocks to create display walls of any shape or scale, using an entirely new, advanced optical design that produces unparalleled levels of brightness, contrast and color reproduction.
The Christie MicroTiles system represents a huge step forward in large-format digital display technology, offering superior color and image reproduction, the widest possible viewing angles, and a near absence of seams on display walls, with only a 1mm gap between the tiles. The groundbreaking LED- and DLP(R)-based system is designed for long, reliable commercial use in public areas, with no lamps or other consumable parts to replace. The LED light engine, a key component of MicroTiles, is rated at 65,000 hours to half brightness usage, or nearly 7.5 years of continuous operation.
With a screen size of 16 inches (408mm) wide x 12 inches (306mm) high, the tiles also feature a shallow depth of only 10 inches (260mm) and require just 2 inches (50mm) of minimal clearance for rear ventilation. Christie engineers designed the MicroTiles to be fully and easily serviced from the front. The tiles are "self-aware" - meaning that time-consuming and costly color calibration needed to keep conventional "video walls" looking uniform, is automatically completed by the sensors built into the MicroTiles.
While the engineering behind the display tiles is extraordinarily sophisticated, walls of tiles are controlled by a simple unit that processes the signal from the most popular digital signage and media players.
Known around the globe for high quality digital projection systems, Christie has had its new tiles in R&D for two years. Technology and visual design experts who've seen sneak previews this year have described the system as "one of the wonders of the world in displays."
"MicroTiles represent a distinct revolution in display technology, that allows users to create their own digital canvas or digital wallpaper," said Bob Rushby, the co-inventor and chief technology officer at Christie. "With MicroTiles, users can express their creativity and vision, and assemble the displays in ways that have previously been unattainable using current flat panel LCD, plasma or LED walls."
"Assemble the tiles any way you like, take them apart and re-assemble them in a new configuration, and they 'recognize' each other every time and adjust the image automatically," Rushby added. "Our partners are discovering new ways of using digital display that would have been impossible or impractical before MicroTiles."
The spectacular image quality and modular flexibility of the MicroTiles system opens up wide possibilities for companies charged with designing and creating large, vivid visual displays for architectural installations, out-of-home advertising, event centers, command and control facilities and retail environments. MicroTiles can easily be incorporated to fit within the physical constraints or opportunities of a building and eliminate all the compromises made when using other display technologies.
"Christie MicroTiles open up a whole new world of possibilities for the various display markets," Rushby added. "They offer an innovative, visually striking digital solution to deliver messages and make them memorable."
Christie MicroTiles will be on display at these North American events:
-- IAAPA/G2, November 17-20 in Las Vegas, Electrosonic booth # 5659 in the
Theming and Tech Pavilion
-- I/ITSEC, November 30-December 3 in Orlando, FL, Christie booth # 1449
-- Christie MicroTiles Product Showcase, December 9 in New York City.
Christie MicroTiles will be launched in Europe at ISE, February 2-4, 2010, and in Asia in the first quarter of 2010.

DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/5b4e03/us_denim_jeans_mar) has announced the addition of the "US Denim Jeans Market Report: 2009 Edition" report to their offering.
The apparel industry has been severely impacted by the global economic downturn but the state of the denim jeans industry is relatively better. The denim industry continues to hold an advantageous position over other apparel categories, owing to longer life span of jeans as compared to other apparel items. Denim defies the fundamental structure of the global economy. While other industries are outsourcing their work to cheaper foreign labor, high cost of manufacturing the jeans in the US is, in fact, a selling point for denim jeans industry.
US retailers of jeans have cut down orders and also their workforce to minimize the impact of economic recession. Manufacturers and retailers are also adopting various pricing strategies in order to offer more entry level products. The premium segment continues to grow but denim manufacturers are reducing prices to focus on cheaper items. Consumers still plan to buy jeans but they are more price-conscious now.
The denim industry is highly competitive with many new brands entering the market during the last few years. Most of these brands were focused on premium denim. These premium denim brands are strategically planning to gain a competitive edge in market share and retail space. Moving ahead in this situation will require companies to surpass consumers' expectations on price and value.
The report focuses on the US denim jeans market - value, growth rate, and segments. It discusses the key trends prevalent in the market. The report provides comprehensive analysis of the men's and women's segment of the market. It also profiles the major brands, including their key business strategies.

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- To recognize Anheuser-Busch's dedication to partnering with the Latino community in the United States, the company will be recognized with the Corporate Social Responsibility Award from the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF).
The company's partnerships with the Latino community span more than 100 years and include support for a variety of organizations.
The award will be given on Thursday, Nov. 12, at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel, when MALDEF hosts its 35th Annual Los Angeles Awards Gala to recognize civic leaders and corporate citizens for their extraordinary work with the Latino community.
Also being honored will be Actress Eva Longoria Parker, who will receive the Community Services Award; Anthony Solana Jr., who will receive the Excellence in Legal Service Award; and Dr. Rodolfo Acuna, who will be honored with the MALDEF Lifetime Achievement Award.
"Our Honorees this year continue the tradition of not only sacrifice for others but inspiring those around to do more for the community," stated Thomas A. Saenz, MALDEF President and General Counsel. "It is an honor to acknowledge these individuals as a demonstration that we do not stand alone in our mission. Anheuser-Busch has been a courageous and generous supporter of MALDEF over several decades, and Anheuser-Busch's example of steadfast and principled support has aided organizations in the Latino community in incalculable ways."
In choosing Anheuser-Busch for this award, MALDEF noted as one example its considerable support for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF). In the past three decades, the brewer has been the largest corporate contributor in fund-raising efforts for HSF, with the company and its 600 wholesalers nationwide contributing more than $24 million.
"Whether supporting programs to promote Latino education or economic and leadership development, our involvement in the Latino community is just one component of our strong corporate commitment to support causes that are good for society," said Margarita E. Flores, senior director of Community Affairs at Anheuser-Busch.
Overall, and during the past two decades alone, grants and contributions from Anheuser-Busch to support the Latino community have totaled more than $58 million, Flores said. She added that more than 18,000 college students have benefited from scholarships awarded through the HSF.
In choosing Anheuser-Busch for the Corporate Social Responsibility award, MALDEF also cited A-B's leadership in promoting responsible drinking and preventing underage drinking. For nearly three decades, Anheuser-Busch and its wholesalers have invested more than $750 million in community-based programs to promote responsibility and fight alcohol abuse.
"We are proud that our efforts, along with those of many others, have helped reduce underage drinking and drunk driving, and we will continue to be a part of the solution to these issues," Flores said.
Founded in 1968, MALDEF, the nation's leading Latino legal civil rights organization, promotes and protects the rights of Latinos through litigation, advocacy, community education and outreach, leadership development, and higher education scholarships.
