U.S. Airways (LCC) Hits New Heights...Sets 52-Week High

Shares of U.S. Airways (NYSE: LCC) have reached a new 52-week high this morning as the stock has spiked over 3.3%.

The 52-week range for shares is $3.96-13.81, however, the stock is currently at $13.94, up $0.47 (+3.41%) and reached $14.09 minutes ago.

Yesterday, the company reported June traffic results including: Mainline revenue passenger miles (RPMs) for the month were 5.8 billion, up 1.7% vs June 2011. Mainline capacity was 6.7 billion available seat miles (ASMs), up 2.3% vs June 2011. June consolidated (mainline and Express) passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) increased approximately 6% vs the same period last year.

This morning, Barron's wrote a positive report on the company. Another report from Reuters said the company CEO 'was not in a hurry' to merge with American Airlines. (American is still working through bankruptcy)

All together, the airline sector has recovered nicely with several moves (some even doubling) in the past year. Stocks with gains include Spirit (Nasdaq: SAVE), United (NYSE: UAL) and Delta (NYSE: DAL).
