NWND to Collaborate With DC BioDiesel, LLC

November 4, 2009 8:55 AM EST

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- National Wind Solutions, Inc. (Pink Sheets: NWND) announced today that it has signed a letter of intent with DC BioDiesel, LLC to explore collaborative opportunities for BioDiesel production and distribution in the DC Metro area. Maurice Stone, President of NWND, was introduced to DC BioDiesel through his Chairmanship of the Energy Committee for the National Black Chamber of Commerce.

While BioDiesel can be produced from a number of different plant based oils such as algae, jatropha, palm oil or soybean oil, DC BioDiesel intends to utilize waste cooking oil as the core feedstock to produce its transportation fuels. Extensive research at universities around the world has advanced the ability to use common non-food sources such as algae to produce BioDiesel.

"This collaborative effort will allow both National Wind Solutions and DC BioDiesel to openly share information and resources with each other in order to pursue opportunities to build, purchase, and/or create biodiesel plants in multiple locations," said Stone. "The backgrounds and experience of the DC BioDiesel management team will be a great asset to us as we seek to develop our solutions in this alternative energy marketplace."

Exxon (NYSE: XOM) recently announced a $600 million algae-based BioFuels development program. Nova NiSource Fuels, (TOR: NBF) and Clean Energy Fuels (NASDAQ: CLNE) are competitors working to bring alternative green fuels to the American market.
