UPWARD MOVERS:
Cypress Bioscience (Nasdaq: CYPB) +$8.08; Forest Laboratories (NYSE: FRX) and Cypress Bioscience announced that preliminary top-line results from a 1,196 patient randomized, three month, double-blind, placebo-controlled pivotal Phase III study demonstrate statistically significant therapeutic effects of milnacipran as a treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome.
Men's Wearhouse Inc. (NYSE: MW) +$5.55; Reports Q1 GAAP EPS of $0.75, which may not compare to the consensus of $0.64. Revenues came in at $ versus the consensus of $463.6 million. Sees Q2 EPS of $0.88-$0.92, which may not compare to the consensus of $0.70. Sees FY EPS of $2.84-$2.94, which may not compare to the consensus of $2.85.
Bristow Group Inc. (NYSE: BRS) +5.34; Reports Q4 EPS of $0.91, 27 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $228.7 million vs. $218.7 million consensus.
The Stride Rite Corp (NYSE: SRR) +$4.76; Payless ShoeSource, Inc. (NYSE: PSS) and The Stride Rite signed a definitive agreement by which Payless will acquire Stride Rite for $20.50 per share in cash.
Mesa Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq: MLAB) +$5.47; Reports Q4 EPS of $0.44 compared to $0.27 for the same period last year. Revenues increased 54% to $5.3 million from $3.44 million for the same period last year. Going into fiscal 2008 the Company expects to continue to focus additional resources on its sales and marketing efforts. This plan calls for expansion of the Company's direct sales team, expansion of the international distribution network and increased marketing activity. The Company will also continue to pursue additional growth opportunities via acquisition of other companies or product lines.
DOWNWARD MOVERS:
CSS Industries (NYSE: CSS) -$5.95; Reports a Q4 loss of $0.52, 6 cents worse than estimates. Revenues were $45.26 million. Sees FY08 EPS between $2.45-$2.60 vs. consensus of $2.95.
Analog Devices (NYSE: ADI) -$3.97; Reports Q2 GAAP EPS of $0.37, $0.40 non-GAAP, versus the consensus of $0.35. Revenues came in at $669 million versus the consensus of $659 million. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.33-$0.41, versus the consensus of $0.40. Sees Q3 revenues of $655-$658 million versus the consensus of $683.5 million. Numerous downgrades
AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) -$3.90; Reports Q3 EPS of $2.17, 2 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $1.474 billion vs. $1.48 billion consensus. Domestic same store sales, or sales for stores open at least one year, increased 0.4% for the quarter.
Northfield Laboratories (NASDAQ: NFLD) -$2.17; Reported results of its pivotal Phase III trauma trial with PolyHeme, its human hemoglobin-based oxygen-carrying red blood cell substitute. Further analysis of the mortality data indicates that the difference in mortality at 30 days between patients who received PolyHeme beginning at the scene and continuing for up to 12 hours following injury, and control patients who received the standard of care, including early blood, was not statistically significant.
Spartan Stores (Nasdaq: SPTN) -$2.00; Announced that it intends to offer, subject to market conditions and other factors, $75 million aggregate principal amount of convertible senior notes due 2027. As part of the offering, the Company intends to grant the initial purchasers an option to purchase up to an additional $15 million aggregate principal amount of the notes to cover over-allotments, if any.
