MetaSolv Inc. (Nasdaq: MSLV) 20% HIGHER; Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) announced that it has agreed to acquire MetaSolv Software, Inc. through a cash merger for $4.10 per share, or approximately $219.2 million.
Terabeam, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRBM) 20% HIGHER; Proxim Wireless Corporation, a global pioneer of end-to-end solutions in Wi-Fi Mesh, WiMAX, WLAN, and wireless backhaul and wholly owned subsidiary of Terabeam, announced that China Netcom Gansu, a subsidiary of China Network Communications Group Corporation, one of the largest telecommunications companies in China, has selected Proxim Wireless WiMAX, mesh, and backhaul products as part of its effort to build the most cost-effective wireless data and voice network in the country.
Somaxon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: SOMX) 18% HIGHER; announced positive results from the company's Phase 3 clinical trial evaluating SILENOR in adults with transient insomnia.
Share of VIVUS, Inc. (Nasdaq: VVUS) 16% HIGHER; when compared to those on placebo, patients treated with Qnexa experienced a statistically significant average weight loss and a reduction in waist circumference. Significant reductions were also seen in lipid levels despite normal mean baseline values. The dropout rate for the trial was 8% in the Qnexa arm, as compared to 38% for the placebo arm.
SimpleTech, Inc. (Nasdaq: STEC) 11.7% HIGHER; expects to record third quarter of 2006 revenues of approximately $92 million to $93 million, diluted earnings per share of approximately $0.13 to $0.14. The consensus is revenue of $80.2 million and EPS of $0.11.
Salton, Inc. (NYSE: SFP) 10% HIGHER; the Board of Directors has formed a special committee comprised of three independent Board members and has engaged Houlihan Lokey Howard & Zukin Capital Inc. as its financial advisor to assist the Board and the Special Committee in this process, which could include a sale or merger of the company.
Boots & Coots International Well Control, Inc. (Amex: WEL) 7% HIGHER; increased revenue guidance for the year ending December 31, 2006. The company believes revenues for its Well Intervention segment will be $65 million to $67 million, which is 8% to 12% higher than the $60 million estimate given on August 8.

Silicon Laboratories, Inc. (Nasdaq: SLAB) 5% LOWER; Q3 EPS of $0.26 (excluding items), 3 cents better than estimates. Revenues were $115.5 million vs. $115.52 million consensus. For the fourth quarter of 2006, the company anticipates revenue of $108 to $113 million. Current Q4 revenue consensus is $123.59 million.

AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) 1% HIGHER; Tops Q3 EPS by 5c
Epicor Software Corporation (Nasdaq: EPIC) INDICATED HIGHER; expects total revenue for the third quarter ended September 30, 2006 to be between $95 million and $96 million, exceeding the Company's earlier provided third quarter revenue guidance. Non-GAAP diluted earnings per share for the third quarter is also expected to exceed the Company's guidance. The consensus is revenue of $94 million and EPS of $0.17.
The Pantry, Inc. (NASDAQ: PTRY) INDICATED HIGHER; expects fiscal 2006 earnings per share to substantially exceed its previous guidance. The Company expects to report diluted earnings per share for its fiscal year ended September 28, 2006 in a range between $3.80 and $3.85, compared with the previous guidance range of $3.20 to $3.30. Diluted earnings per share for fiscal 2005 were $2.64, including $0.22 per share in charges related to store closings, impairment charges and uninsured losses associated with Hurricane Katrina. The consensus is $3.77.
