OPEC may hold an emergency meeting to stem the slide in oil prices, the FT reported mid-day Monday. The FT is citing Nigerian oil minster Diezani Alison-Madueke on the possible OPEC meeting.

"Almost all OPEC countries, expect perhaps the Arab bloc, are very uncomfortable," Alison-Madueke said.

If the price falls further, Alison-Madueke said, "it is highly likely that I will have to call an extraordinary meeting of OPEC in the next six weeks for so."

The minster went on to say it is hoped that the price of oil will stabilize at no less than $60 per barrel, but they cannot be sure.
